This product has been widely used in the Far East to protect aging individuals from a wide variety of complaints. Idebenone is a cerebral stimulant and increases brain energy levels, and it is also used for strokes.
The chemical structure of idebenone is similar to the co-enzyme CoQ10. However, researchers believe that CoQ10 under certain circumstances may become a pro-oxidant, a trait that is not present in idebenone.
Like CoQ10, idebenone has protection qualities for the heart and is seen as a potent antioxidant. But idebenone is such a potent anti-oxidant it has been shown to be 400-times more potent that vitamin E, and is often the anti-oxidant of choice for the transport of organs, such is its potency.
Idebenone can even enhance the brain levels of serotonin and increase brain levels of nerve growth factor, both of these effects have not been discovered in CoQ10.
Furthermore, idebenone has been shown to protect the brain's myelin sheath and prevent damage from occurring to the vital-energy-producing cells called the mitochondria, this also has implications for multiple sclerosis, (a mitochondria is shown here).
Idebenone can protect against age-related free-radical damage, (especially those created by excitatory amino-acids) and idebenone can enhance overall physical energy levels.
With no known contraindications or side effects at one tablet , (30mg each) two or three times daily, idebenone is regarded as an important protective anti-aging supplement.
